Example
An employee works 39 hours a week and 5 days a week, and reaches 1,365 hours in the leave year. The four-week method gives 156 leave hours, equal to 20 normal working days.
Irish rules in plain English
Most employees can qualify by one of three methods: four working weeks after at least 1,365 hours, one-third of a working week for each calendar month with at least 117 hours, or 8% of hours worked.
Where more than one method applies, the greater result is used. The statutory maximum is four normal working weeks in the leave year.
All employees, including part-time, temporary and casual workers, earn annual leave. This estimate does not deduct leave already taken.
